We Arrive at Exmouth Gulf a bit tired, but thankful that I had spare Petrol in a jerry can, as we ran into headwinds all the way down which markedly increases the fuel consumption, we were 15k out of Sandfire, (a whistle-stop with Fuel), and I only had enough fuel for 5 more k, so I topped up the tank out of the Jerry can and made Sandfire, I was a bit worried, but that's life in the outback, always carry plenty of water and plenty of Fuel
Exmouth is situated on the Tip of a Peninsula that is known as The North West Cape and juts out into the Indian Ocean, on the south side is Shark Bar containing the Ningaloo Reef National Park. Western Australia's only Coral Reef and it goes 260k in Length down through Coral Bay and beyond. The reef contains over 500 species of fish and over 200 species of Coral,
The reef comes within 10mt of the shore in places and creates beautiful Turquoise Water, lovely and clear for snorkeling the reef and swimming amongst the coral.
There are many sea excursions available including whale watch, manta ray viewing, and turtle watch at correct season,
Our Caravan Park is almost in town , very central to everything, we were planning a whale watch cruise, but the weather fouled up, so we got our money back, but it would have been lovely out there over the reef, another time, another place.. so we get about all the other things to do there
At this point I must ask you to close your ears real tight, as I am going to SCREAM and Swear, (*&^^@#$%^&*) at my Camera shop that transferred my 128Mg digital camera card to a CD when it was full, and STUFFED IT UP,,, I lost all photos from Exmouth Coral Bay and all my Trips out and Up from there ..(LEADING EDGE CAMERA SHOP AT CARNAVON) Watch out,, I will sue you for Thousands. ReadY? !!
Ok.. you can open your ears now. Gee it is so frustrating.. I have memories, but cannot show you them... But I hope will words do?
We move onto Carnavon, and the same applies to the photos as that is where I had the CD made when the digital camera card was full
