To Kununurra

Our trip from now on will be heading into the Kimberley's, Down the Victoria River through  Marys' Pool, Timber Creek with the Gregory National Park with giant Boab Trees, Limestone terrace hills, and through gorges and escarpment country.
Halls Creek, Wolf Creek Meteorite Crater, Fitzroy Crossing, Geikie Gorge National Park and onto Kununurra. and Lake Argyle, on the Ord River

We are 4446 k's now from Perth in the South and 600 k's from Darwin in the Northern Territory
The landscape is starting to dry out, and we travel along vast stretches of 'would be' flood lands in the wet season, of course we are in the 'Dry season' this time of the year. but is amazing to se the level reached by floods in the wet.

The Fitzroy River Crossing has flood level markers up to 28mt, wow, that is some area of water that just goes out to the Timor Sea and just what we need in our capital cities this Dry summer...!!

We arrive at Kununurra a Town Irrigated from The Ord System,, the agriculture has developed accordingly into an Oasis in The Desert

and get set to enjoy the 'Out back' in a serious fashion, however Arleen, my wife spent the next 5 days laying flat on her back after displacing a disk, so I had to enjoy some of the sights on my own, including a flight over the 'Bungle Bungles' an astonishing experience for two hours that I was sitting beside the pilot and looking down at 2000 ft to the most unusual sights ever.

To get to the Bungle Bungles we flew over the Ord River Dam which holds 7 times the water volume of Sydney Harbor, and the irrigation that comes from the Ord now produces 85million $ worth of vegies and fruit to the Australian and export market, a massive system and well worth the trip, including looking down at the vast Argyle Diamond Open Cut Mine

Ord River  and Hydro Dam and Argyle open Cut Mine

Ivanhoe Crossing is used to travel North and west to marvelous country but only if you have a 4 wheel drive, which we don't

  Ivanhoe Crossing 4x4 Only

Arleen's Back has almost recovered and we set sail to Broome and Derby where Australia's Pearl Industry was first established,

Derby has a Fantastic Lookout where the Five Rivers all come into one Bay the 'Buccaneer Archipelago. and where the Boab Tree once served as a Holding Jail for Aboriginals being transferred to main jails down south

Derby was a nice relaxing town, with a lot to see, around town and away from town there is the King Sound, Tunnel Creek and also the horizontal waterfalls which is so strange when you have a 30mt tidal fall/rise

Kings Sound -Five rivers join here-

Winjanna Gorge or even Myall's Bore the longest Cattle trough in Australia 180 mt long, there was plenty to take into the memory bank
