We headed Our Van South again to Carnavon a beautiful town on the coast to where I gave my Camera Card for transfer to a CD,, no more to say about that, no photos of the area though,, Grr The Area is called the Gascoynes. The Gascoyne River is now a very fertile agricultural Area for Fruit and Vegetables mainly Bananas and tomatoes, to the Southern Cities. the river itself appears always dry in the summer, but underneath the river bed is an abundance of good fresh water, that fills up during the wet seasons, and carries the town through the Dry, The Gascoyne starts at the base of Mt Augustus a rock outcrop, 1000m high, even larger that Ayers Rock, and has commanding views for 100's of K's all round.

They tell me that the fishing is excellent, maybe for others but...:) The winds were strong so fishing off the rocks were definitely out for me. In town there is a Jetty called the 'One Mile Jetty' that has a mini train service out on the jetty, it was cute,, I DID have photos of it together with a museum and a skeleton of a Whale that was washes up a century ago, it must have been a 'Bigee'.
The Coastal area around Carnavon is rugged to the extreme, lots of ships have come to grief over the centuries including a Portuguese ship in 1550.
Out from Carnavon there is a trail to the coast to see the blowholes, and was it spectacular the coastal seas were really angry with the wind, and the whole coast was whitewater with 10m waves breaking on the cliffs an over everything close, including me,, as I had to duck for cover and not get drenched
50 Km out, was where the "HMAS Sydney" engaged with the German 'Kormorant" both sank, Australia lost 56 men aboard Sydney, and the many Germans landed in their Lifeboats there to be arrested for duration of the war.
Leaving Exmouth, a lovely town really we move on down to Denham on Shark Bay and Monkey Mia, we had a great park right on the Cliffs overlooking Denham. The Dolphins at Monkey Mia were great
