Leaving Cowell, we head down to Port Lincoln, down the the southern tip of of the peninsula, where we booked into the Kirton Bay Caravan Park, a very spacious Park and a delightful view overlooking Spencer Gulf. including the Tuna Breeding Ponds in the Bay.

Port Lincoln is a world renown Tuna fishing Port. The Tuna are netted in the open sea, and herded into these Feeding Ponds, and fed with a special diet of food, for three months, before capturing and air freighted to Japan 5 at a time for $50,000 a pack,, not bad eh?

This was Arleen's first try at Fishing, and she hooked into a beauty a Salmon at least 3 kg. She only had a little Telescope Rod, with a 4 lb line, however she played it like a champ, until it came to the bottom of our wharf, and guess what.. it dived around the Pier..... and gone!!

However it was a good intro for her, as she had hooked the biggest Salmon of our trip!

Hungry Pelicans Waiting for my fish gut and heads...

It was a fascinating Fisherman's wharf, as the Trawlers came in each morning with 20 to 40 tons of Pilchard each boat and unloaded at the pier. All we had to do was to take our bucket to the boats and they would fill them with Pilchards for our bait,, cheap bait eh?

These pilchards are used as feed for the Tuna in the Ponds that I described earlier

The next Day we went for a Drive up the Coast to Tumby Bay, that we had bypassed going down to Port Lincoln.

Tumby Bay is really a Great Place, a lovely caravan Park, a great little Jetty for Fishing (More Squid).

We bought lunch there and had "Fis'n'chips ' of course, It was a lovel meal by the sea under a Sail cloth Roof,

Tumby Bay by the sea

Finished our Day looking around Tumby Bay,  A beautiful little Village, I could easily live there, but a Tinny (Fishing Boat) would be essential

so far our trip had exceeded all our expectations

Back to Port Lincoln

Next day.. went fishing for 2 hours again at the Fisherman's wharf, free bait again, caught two nice salmon and gave them away to a family that had caught anything. went for lunch at a beautiful sidewalk Italian Restaurant, ordered our meal, Paid for it, and waited 45 minutes, Arl went and complained to the manager.. He apologized as it seemed that they had lost our order, and gave us our money back, but begged us to stay on, and he gave us our complete meal for Free with coffee and free sweets as well, Bloody nice FREE Lunch eh?

That nigh we decided to go to the Tasman Hotel, a Roast Pork dinner, with Apple Pie, all for $6  no complaints about that one either...

Dinner finished we tried our luck with the Pokies,, won $40 in ten min walked out with a $20 profit for the night including a free dinner, and a free Lunch.. all in all a very good day!!!
