Arrive at Batchelor   the Gateway to the Litchfield National Park, where the Termite mounds are plentiful and the biggest in Australia, up to 20ft high, there the Magnetic Mounds, that face north/south, as well as the Cathedral Type really an awesome sight, There are Three main Waterfalls spread throughout the Park the main one being Wangi , Tolmer and Florence Falls   
a magnificent area of rain forest, swimming holes, and fish swimming with you (No Crocs Here) 

You can drive now thru the Litchfield National Park , down the Daly River to Woolianna on the Daly

where they say is the best Barra Fishing ever,, so we are off to try our luck , about 120k of gravel road.. but it should be worth it.

Arrive at Woolianna and book into the Van Park. 

The Daly is a big, beautiful barramundi and crocodile infested river, lined by dense jungle. Even though it is a fresh water river it is still tidal and flows into Anson Bay (85km downstream from Woolianna).

There are many creeks that feed into the Daly. Fishing the mouth of a creek just after the wet season is very popular...and productive! Inexperienced fisherman normally find it easier to fish during periods of neap tides, but of course the mighty 'barra' can be caught at any time. 

There is a resident Fishing  tour guide there, so we look around the Park at all the Mango Trees and orchards there on the River. and wait for the Fishing guide to return from his day trip with the likes of me. at 4:30 they return with a boat full of barra,, My heart is pumping as I approach him to make a booking for the next day.. Guess what!! tomorrow he goes to Darwin for a heart Operation and wont return for some weeks.. I am sorry for him, and disappointed for myself, well that's fishing,, off to the fish shop for dinner again.. Grrr

As we don't have a Fishing Boat in tow, it is useless to stay around.. so we pack up and get 'on the road again'. 

Our way across to the Gulf necessitates that we return to Katherine , then to Mataranka , where they have Hot Springs, and a lovely caravan park with wildlife roaming the Park..
before working our way to the Gulf Country. Booked in Katherine where we stayed on the way North, We need a 5000k service badly, washing had to be done,, and spent the rest of the day charging our own body batteries.:) food needed restocking, chatted with newcomers in the Park, got and received some tips for the continuing of our trip.
