Continuing Our Maiden Voyage around Australia ... Darwin ..NT

We arrived in Howard Springs and will stay here for a week or so, It is about 25k south of Darwin so we can day trip to where the points of interest are.

The Caravan Park is great , so this week should be a relaxing and enjoyable

They have a tour from here that goes up the Adelaide River ,, which is when the Crocodile sighting starts,, the Tour is called 'Harry's Safari' and it was one of the best days out that one could imagine,, the river is a very long one  some 800km, and we travelled over 30km of it in a flat bottom Boat.. the count of Sightings was near a hundred and one especially, from only 20ft away sunning on the river bank was 'George' ,  he was estimated to be 7+ mt. (23feet) in length  he was simply enormous.. The "Crocodile Hunter" would have been proud of him  (Click Photo). We had the good fortune to see a large croc take a live wallaby from the shore, he did the death roll. drowned the wallaby and then decided to eat him in front of us,,

 Campsite on The Adelaide River

'Real Live Nature' at its best saw a gigantic wild buffalo, well over 7ft high.. didn't get too close to him tho...lol, and fed a pair of sea eagles, with fish and also kangaroo meat, they came right down to the boat, and swooping low to grab the food in their talons...

There were many things to see around Darwin including the Sunset at Mindel Night Market, It was a beautiful evening and the hundreds of food stalls lining the beach made sure you had enough to eat ")

Another day we went to see 'Fish Feeding'  on the coast,, hundreds of fish well over a metre in length swarmed around while we threw bread and bread rolls for them to fight over.. quite exciting watching them.

All in all the Darwin trip was really nice with the temp around 30c each day.. Needless to say I spent as much time fishing as I could,, caught a lot of fish,, but NO BARRA.

Tomorrow we head down south to Batchelor, the gateway to Litchfield National Park.
