Caravanning Australia ..Page Three .. Continuing Our Maiden Voyage around Australia We reach a tiny town called Kulgera... mid way to Ayres rock .. and stay the night in a drive thru Caravan park.. Drive thru ..means I don't have to unhitch the van from the car.. thus enabling us to have an early start the next morning and head further North for 600kn to Ayres Rock , where we booked in for three days and relaxed for the evening, had a sip or two of Fine Aussie Wine with our camp cooked dinner, while watching the sun set over the 'Rock' The next morning we set out to get a closed look at Australia Largest monolith ..Solid Granite, and enormous it sure was.. [Click on Photo] We shirked the 'Climb to the top idea' and decided to walk the 9.5km circumference, and that took approx 3hrs to do just that. The next day we tackled the Olgas, (Kata Tjuta) [Click on Photo] which I feel was even better than the Rock. each to his own though.. Onto Kings Canyon,, and it was a real experience,, 1000ft high canyon faces, carved out over the centuries by wind and water erosion, all heavily tinged in red, and looking magnificent when the sinking sun hits the canyon walls,, We had a Camp Dinner and watched and listened to Country Music Concert in the Caravan Park Next morning we we setting off further North, To Alice Springs , while having breakfast for some reason our Toaster decided to short out,, and in doing so it blew the fuses for all the caravan park,, needless to say The culprit was in Hiding Lol.. I made a note to buy a new toaster before I had toast again..:) We booked into the Big4 Caravan Park in Alice for 6 days,, so started to plan the tours that were available Arleens birthday today,, so booked into a recommended restaurant called "The Windmill' I am sad to say. We HAVE NEVER had a worse meal that we had there, to celebrate her birthday. It was absolutely scandalous.. So Don't you try it... Putting that behind us we set out to enjoy all the different Gorges and Memorabilia of 'A Town Like Alice" On To
