Page four of Nth Queensland Trip 2004

Well on with the trip!
After spending a week in
Cooktown, Doug decides he would like to take his Patrol right up to the TOP of Cape York, as he has a camp tent onboard, we decided he would go and we would visit new Parts of Oz! so we head for the east coast via the Gulfland Tourist Route to Croydon where we take a tour of the 'Oldest General Store in Oz' it was well worth the visit, after we took in lunch we browsed through the store The Items on the shelves were outstanding, anything from a washer to a washing machine all 100 years old :)

We doubled back to near Hughenden where we visited on the way up, but we were now about 200ks North, The  Oldest Australian Fossils, all found in the immediate area of Hughenden and Richmond, all unique to Australia, in an area called, what was then the Arafuen Sea, that started in the Gulf Country and extended halfway to Adelaide. so the dead centre of Oz was not always so!! but a thriving sea of all long dead sea creatures
